1Password for Windows now on sale! Special discount for Beta testers

Hello everyone,
Thanks to your excellent Beta testing and Stefan's great work, things are getting pretty solid and we're getting closer to the official release! There is still a lot to be done so we're still aiming for "later this year" for the official release, but we're close to the goal line!
Some of the biggest missing pieces were licensing, adding Windows to the online store, and updating the downloads page. Since things are more solid, we've updated the Downloads page to proudly show Windows to everyone:
Downloads page
I love seeing Windows there! Especially the cute little lady bugs on the Beta sign <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
As for the store, it is a little more tricky as we want to make sure the license system is solid before adding it to the general store. We therefore added a hidden flag to enable it; you can use this link to purchase 1Password for Windows from the store:
Online Store w/ Windows
As you can see, we're having an Early Bird discount; anyone who purchases during the Beta period will save 50% on the Single license and over 50% for the Family one.
We really loved having your help Beta testing, so we wanted to reward everyone who helped out. Giving away licenses would be the easiest method, but we need help testing the store and the license activation process. To make sure you are using the same process other users will use, we want you to purchase directly from the online store. You can then email us for a partial or full refund, depending on how many posts you've had in this forum. Here's how it will work:

Purchase your 1Password for Windows license from the Online Store (be sure to use this link as it does not appear in the general store yet).

Email support@agile.ws with your order details, along with your forum user name and the number of posts you've had in this forum.

We'll refund an additional $2.50 (of the already discounted price) for every post you've had in this forum. In other words, if you had 8 posts, you'll get a full refund on a Single User license; if you had 3 posts, we'd refund you $7.50.
It is quite a bit more work for us to refund you this way but we need help testing the entire process and we really wanted to reward those who helped make 1Password for Windows a success!
Thanks again everyone! Please let us know in this thread how things go and where/how we can improve.

I wanted to add that everyone should upgrade to the latest version before proceeding. Stefan just released 1.0.0.98.

Congrats Dave,
Last time you did this I refused to accept anything, and since I really dont use win anymore. Ill just do what I did for the mac 3.0 beta, (sign on for more forum duty) <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />Flag 0 -

Are you completely sure about that Tommy? We're launching on Windows. I think we require survival gear for this influx <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />Flag 0 -
This may be a dumb question but if I purchase the Beta Windows version at the discounted rate can I upgrade to the full version when it is released for no charge? Are all future updates free (after purchasing the initial license)?Flag 0

Technically, the beta software is still free, and this is sort of a "license prepurchase" to help us test the online store and the demo-to-full conversion. As of August 15, the beta will begin behaving as a "demo version" in which you'll be reminded of demo status if you save or create more than 20 items.

In 1Password's life on the Mac, updates (a.k.a. "point upgrades" such as 1.2 to 1.3) have been free, whereas some upgrades (such as 2.x to 3.x) have required a small fee.Flag 0 -

Will there be any kind of bundle discount for current 1Password owners?
I haven't heard anything final, but co-founder Dave has said in the past that we'll make some sort of accommodation for folks who already own 1Password (Mac) licenses.
Please watch the "sticky" threads in this forum for word of final pricing arrangements.Flag 0 -

No, this won't work <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I'll be reviewing everyone's posts to make sure this is not the case.Flag 0 -

Will there be any kind of bundle discount for current 1Password owners? That is, I already have licenses for 1Password for my Mac and 1Password Pro for my iPhone, synchronized using DropBox, so adding 1Password for Windows is just about a no-brainer.
We decided to simplify things and offer 1Password for Windows for half price to everyone during the beta period. We could have spent a few days adding a special process for existing paid users but decided in the end we'd rather focus on new features instead.
We were tempted to make the price the same for the Beta testers too as it would save a lot of time, but we really wanted to reward those who helped. That's where the $2.50 refund for every post idea came from.
BTW – I'm still technically on vacation here, so some of those refunds will take a little while. My family is visiting from Texas and leave on Sat, so I should be able to do them on Sun.Flag 0 -

I have to admit this gave me a good chuckle after having dental work this past week and being on my pain meds. We may need hazard pay, and survival gear.Flag 0 -

Is it just me or is there a problem? I get a server error when I try to 'calculate' the price for the Windows license...
Thank you for reporting this. I just found the issue and will deploy the new site later today.
So far I like what I see in the Windows version. I've been using the iPhone version for a while and really wanted something compatible on Windows at work.

Did all posts get moved to IPBoard? I'm sure I posted on the old forums, but my profile doesn't have links to any of them.Flag 0

Yeah be sure to have posts before the announcement otherwise you will not get the per post refund. I just found this out via email.

That does not seem right if they only count posts before the announcement. But your probably right.Flag 0 -

Being a long-term user i just found out today that there is a brand new windows version of this most valuable tool against loss of passwords...
Having right now only mac and iphone here plus the pc of my wife, I would like to upgrade to a family license. But according to your shop I can't use a mixture of Mac/Win for a Family license.. why? They are priced the same (regular price)..
Right now I would be forced to get a single Win-License at nearly 40$ normal price. At the moment the price is cut by half during launch so the maths looks better - but still: an upgrade from single license mac to a family license mac/win would make more sense when I look at the children that might soon have their own stuff... plus 10$ and all 4 of us can use 1password..Flag 0 -
I stumbled upon the final Windows release incidentally a couple of days ago and i must admit i like the program.
Before, I used 1 password on the iPad. Unfortunately in the beginning i didn't use the universal app but the iPad only app, which I had to replace by the universal one when my iPhone 4 finally arrived and I decided to use 1 password on the phone as well.
Naturally I thought I will be able to use the 1password file from the iPad on the iPhone after a dropbox sync and had to find out that this is impossible. You have to start your password collection on a computer - then afterwards you can sync it between all your devices. OK i had to figure this out and decided to by a family licence of the 1password windows version.
And I would like to give you feedback on that process. Buying went fine but all the images of your buying site are replaced by little crosses, as it seems that only the page is ssl secured and not your icons.
edit: I just had another look, it is actually a placeholder frame, no cross.
That makes the buying process look a bit "insecure"
And I actually got a question, which I hope is allowed to be asked here. Is there a easy way to prevent an automatic start of 1 password with windows?
I didn't find that option in the preferences at the usual places.
greetings,

I just purchased my license last night. The checkout process went fairly smoothly but one annoyance was that when I chose to pay with Discover card (grouped with Paypal) it prompted me to enter all of my billing and card details but my only choices at the bottom of the screen were 'Back' and 'Paypal' so I clicked the Paypal button which took me to the Paypal site where I had the option to pay with Discover again which meant entering all of the billing details again.....so I went back and paid with my Mastercard which went through no problems.Flag 0

Well, I guess this answers my earlier question. So there really is no break or extra discount for owners of MAC versions. I have one family pack and one individual license and have those via upgrades. Still does not seem fair but it is such a great product that I will not complain and being able to seamless sync my MAC and Windows passwords is great.
So, if I have this right, I purchase the Windows version now regular or family pack , I get a $2.50 discount for each post to this forum? To some degree this mitigates the pain...... <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />Flag 0 -

Currently the promo is running for early birds at 50% off the regular price till it goes out of beta. Also as you posted the $2.50 discount per post.
