Syncing between MAC and PC without Dropbox

Hallo,

I have a MAC for private use and a PC for business use. Unfotunately I cannot due to my company security policies access to dropbox.

Firewalls fobid the access to the dropbox website.

How can I sync my passwords between PC and MAC without using dropbox?

Thanks for the answer

Philippe

Unless your Mac and PC someone have access to the same drive (a network share, maybe?) then you cannot sync. However, you should be able to backup your Keychain on Mac, and then restore it on Windows (or vice versa).
  • Just to be clear, passing backups back and forth between computers isn't technically sync'ing, as your data is up-to-date only to the extent that you remember to do it.

Also, I'm not sure putting your "live" keychain on a shared drive is a good idea, as I'd be concerned about the possible effect of accidentally writing the same files simultaneously on multiple computers. Dropbox handles such conflicts gracefully.
  • Thanks for both answers

You may wish to look at a tool like Unison, which provides two-way folder synchronization among Unix (including OS X) and Windows machines.

Please be aware that none of us at Agile Web Solutions have tested this, so this is completely unsupported. I am merely offering this as an idea to explore.
